The Realm, located 18 National Circuit, Barton, is a prestigious hotel and office precinct located in Canberra’s Parliamentary Triangle. It was designed by Colin Stewart in 2007 and received the 2008 Australian Institute of Architects ACT Chapter Commercial Architecture Commendation.
The building’s design is highly responsive to the city’s urban structure. It consists of three blocks that converge at the edges to create a grand atrium and central courtyard spaces. The use of pre-cast structural concrete plays a significant role in achieving a bold, geometric look while providing an efficient construction system. The design emphasizes natural light, natural ventilation, and solar access.
The Realm Precinct features several renowned restaurants, including Buvette, Ostani Bar and Restaurant, Maple and Clove, and Lilotang. It also includes three premium hotels, the state-of-the-art EVO health club, Mudd day spa, and Kundalini Hair Salon.
At 18 National Circuit, tenants in this precinct are in close proximity to major government departments, such as the Department of Finance, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Department of Human Services, and the Australian Government Attorney-General’s Department.
